Grey Powell has more than 16 years of experience working in a variety of practice areas ranging from criminal law, including DWI/DUI to personal injury and other civil litigation. Grey handles cases in family law – doing both collaborative and traditional divorces, education, employment and traffic law. He has spent the majority of his professional career working in Wake County.

Born and raised in Raleigh, Grey earned his law degree from Wake Forest University in 1998 and began practicing law in the Forsyth County area. He returned to his hometown in 1999 and has been practicing in Wake County ever since.

Grey is a certified North Carolina Superior Court mediator, Family Financial Services mediator and is trained in collaborative divorce.

While focused on Wake County and Raleigh, Grey is able to represent cases in district, superior and federal courts throughout North Carolina. He’s also been admitted to the United States Supreme Court.

Prior to starting his own practice, Grey was an attorney with the Governor’s Advocacy Council for Persons with Disabilities, focused on traumatic brain injuries, education and employment law for persons with disabilities. Grey has also served as an appeals referee for both the North Carolina Employment Security Commission and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.

He spent several years as a member of the board for the North Carolina Governor’s Advisory Council on Traumatic Brain Injury (2006-2010) and the Brian Injury Association of North Carolina (2005-2011).

Grey lives in Raleigh with his wife and three children.
